Now that “General Hospital’s” Sean Kanan (ex-A.J. Quartermaine) is headed back to “The Bold and the Beautiful” to reprise his role as sleazy con-man Deacon Sharpe, “The Young and the Restless” fans are wondering if the character will be swinging by Genoa City to visit his former lover, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). And while that may be an eventuality, “B&B’s” headwriter, Bradley P. Bell, admits that instead of loaning out Deacon to “Y&R,” he’d rather steal Nikki for his own sudser!
In a recent interview with TV Guide, the scribe was asked if he’d loan Kanan to “Y&R,” since Deacon and Nikki have had a couple of alcohol-induced mattress mambos that some viewers wouldn’t mind seeing play out again. His answer: He’d rather have Nikki come to Los Angeles, instead! “Certainly, I would loan him. I loved that sick, twisted relationship between Deacon and Nikki. But, better yet, I’d love to have Nikki come over to ‘B&B!’” he raves. “That’s something we’ve been contemplating, actually. [Senior Vice President] Angelica McDaniel at CBS Daytime has been doing some incredible things with synergy, and Melody Thomas Scott is amazing. And it doesn’t hurt that Mel’s husband, Ed Scott, is now producing our show, so maybe I can get him to pull some strings. [Laughs] In fact, I would be very confident entering into that negotiation. I want to make it happen!”
But what about the fans? Would you guys like to see Nikki head to Los Angeles and stir up trouble on “B&B?” Or would you rather Deacon come back to Genoa City? Or, would you prefer the powers that be not reunite Deacon and Nikki at all? Let us know in the comment section below!
Melody Thomas Scott’s name has been making the rounds for a variety of things lately, but there’s one story in particular that the portrayer of the “The Young and the Restless’” Nikki Newman wants to set straight: The April 7 edition Globe article that claims she called Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane, “All My Children”) to trash talk the sudser’s executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps!
Rumors have been circling that Phelps has been trying to woo Lucci (who currently stars on Lifetime’s “Devious Maids”) to Genoa City, and somehow, Scott got dragged into the gossip. Consequently, the actress posted a message on her Facebook page, taking the tabloid to task for what she claims are outright lies. “Is it possible for the Globe to print an entire article with not ONE shred of truth to it? Well, they’ve done it,” she wrote. “In their April 7th edition, there is an entire page devoted to absolute lies. It refers to a phone call that I had with Susan Lucci, whom I don’t even know. Sure, over the years we have run into each other at events, ‘Hello, how are you,’ and that’s it. She does not have my phone number, nor I hers. Hey, Globe… There was no phone call!
“According to the Globe, I told her that Y&R isn’t a great place to work these days because of the havoc that Jill Farren Phelps has created under her rule. That we are walking on eggshells! In reality, our set has never been as relaxed and copacetic, with a very warm vibe, due to some recent changes made,” she continues. “In my 35 years in Genoa City, there has been only one regime that made us walk on eggshells, and it wasn’t under Jill. Sure, we were warned of the ‘Wicked Witch’ that was blowing our way, but she has been nothing but a great leader, gracious, professional, approachable and a pleasure to work with. They also intimated that I was upset that my husband, [Ed Scott], (who, btw, has a multi-year contract at ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’) didn’t get Jill’s position of EP! Utterly ridiculous! Edward is extremely happy at B&B and would never think of switching shows. I’m sure CBS legal would have a few things to say about that, too! And [EP/headwriter] Brad Bell, as well! Don’t get me wrong: If Susan were to come to YR, I would welcome her with open arms, just as I would any actor coming to Genoa City. It boggles my mind that a rag could print nothing but falsehoods. Usually, there is a small grain of truth, but not this time! Don’t believe everything you read, kids!”
Meanwhile, as for whether or not Lucci is even seriously being considered as a “Y&R” castmember remains unclear. At present, the actress is starring in “Devious Maids,” which begins its second season on Sunday, April 20 at 10PM ET on Lifetime.
“The Young and the Restless'” Melody Thomas Scott just celebrated her 35th anniversary playing Nikki Newman, and what better way to kick off her 36th year than with a stellar guest-gig playing a character who has a boozy past that dang near rivals her Genoa City alter ego’s? As we previously reported, the actress is doing just that: She’s headed to CBS’s sitcom “The Crazy Ones” later this month, and guess what? Soap Opera Network is bringing you the first look at Scott in her exciting primetime role!
A rep for the sitcom confirms that Nikki’s portrayer will be playing Flora, a boozy librarian who enlists Simon (Robin Williams) and his team’s help to save her library. “It came completely out of the blue,” she told TV Guide of the gig. “I was originally called in for another role on the show and was told by producers that I was too young, which was fabulous! But they thought that Robin and I would play off each other well, so they created a role for me in a different episode. It’s a great character and not at all glamorous like Nikki. This poor girl is really trying to sexy but she’s just not cutting it — and she has no qualms about pulling out her flask during library hours.”
Look for Scott’s appearance on the season finale of the CBS show (which also stars “All My Children” alum Sarah Michelle Gellar) on Thursday, April 17 at 9:30 PM ET/PT.
As we previously reported, “The Young and the Restless’” Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) is guest-starring on tonight’s episode of CBS’ hit sitcom, “The Crazy Ones.” The actress will be playing boozy librarian named Flora who enlists the help of Simon (Robin Williams) and his team to help her save her library.
To catch the one-hour season finale episode of the series, which also stars Sarah Michelle Gellar (ex-Kendall Hart, “All My Children”), tune into CBS tonight at 9:00 PM ET/PT.
Just as the long memorial day holiday weekend was getting ready to begin word broke that “The Young and the Restless” was recasting the role of Billy Abbott. According to Daytime Confidential, “Y&R” has decided to go in a different direction with the character and has let David Tom go. He is being replaced by actor Burgess Jenkins.
“So excited to be joining the Y&R family! Thanks so much for the outpouring of warm welcome from all the fans!” wrote Jenkins who confirmed his joining on Twitter.
In addition to his role as Sergeant Eddie Hall on Lifetime’s “Army Wives,” Jenkins has appeared in episodes of “Nashville,” “One Tree Hill” and “Drop Dead Diva.” He starred in the ABC Family original movie “Christmas Cupid” alongside Christina Milian.
Tom originated the role of an adult Billy in 1999, for which he won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2000. He remained with the series through 2002 and subsequently appeared on “All My Children” and “One Life to Live” as Paul Cramer, who helped jumpstart the baby switch storyline that spanned from Llanview to Pine Valley in 2004. In 2008, Billy Miller took over the role, which garnered the actor with two Daytime Emmy Awards in 2010 and 2013 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal. After opting not to renew his contract, it was announced in November 2013 that Tom would return to “Y&R.” The actor began airing in early February.
Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) wished Tom the best on Twitter. “I’ll miss U so much. Don’t let it get u down. U R a fabulous actor, friend & U R my family. Ur talent will take U where U belong,” wrote the actress.
Jenkins will first appear onscreen in late June.
The Bombshell That Will Change Their Lives Forever
After getting shot on last week’s “The Young and the Restless,” Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) needs a liver transplant and the only person who might be able to save his life is Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton), but how is that possible? Well in a twist that’s about to rock Genoa City, it looks like Dylan might actually be Paul’s son with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and not Ian Ward’s (Ray Wise).
On the Friday, June 13 episode, after Stitch (Sean Carrigan) revealed that Paul’s blood type is causing a problem for the medical team working on him as they try to find a donor match, Dylan noted that he is AB negative, the same as Paul. With only 1% of the population with that blood type, making it extremely rare, one only has to put two and two together to figure out that Dylan is really Paul’s son, considering Nikki’s proclamation she was only with Paul and Ian during the given time frame. Such a revelation will definitely put yet another strain on Nikki’s relationship with her husband, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), when he finds out. Victor after all has never been fond of Dylan and has never kept his feelings quiet.
So what’s Victor doing meeting Ian, telling him “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”? You’ll just have to tune in to find out.
The Reveal is Unreal. Will she say I do or I don’t? And Billy’s a lover, not a quitter.
Following last week’s revelation to her husband, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), that Dylan (Steve Burton) is actually Paul’s (Doug Davidson) son and not Ian Ward’s (Ray Wise), Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is nearly at a loss for words as she tells Paul that he’s Dylan’s father just as Dylan walks into the room. Meanwhile, Hillary (Mishael Morgan) is dabbling in a father/son triangle and potential “Who’s The Daddy?” territory with her upcoming nuptials to Neil (Kristoff St. John). Will Devon (Bryton James) be able to stop the wedding?
Finally, a new Billy hits the screen beginning Tuesday, June 24 when Burgess Jenkins takes over the role previously portrayed by David Tom and Billy Miller. Of course, he’s already shirtless bein that it’s summer time. It was only a matter of time…
After nearly a year in a coma, CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” will once again say hello to Phyllis Summers when daytime veteran Gina Tognoni takes over the role beginning Monday, August 11, Soap Opera Network has learned exclusively. In our tribute to the character as she gets ready to wake up for the first time in the coming weeks, we take a look back at what Phyllis has missed while she was sleeping, including what former loves Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) have been up to since last seeing their favorite feisty redhead.
Forget about the sun, BBQ flames and bikini-clad bodies: The one thing that will be heating up the most this summer is CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.” From shocking secrets, babydaddy drama, rip-roaring returns and more, the CBS sudser is pulling out all of the stops in the weeks to come — and Soap Opera Network spoke with several cast members to get the exciting scoop!
Perhaps one of the most anticipated bouts of excitement is the return of Phyllis, who wakes from a coma with a new portrayer, Gina Tognoni, on Monday, August 11. “It’s a lot of drama,” teases Cady McClain (Kelly Andrews) of the mess that ensues when Jack’s ex wakes up to find that he’s been getting hot and heavy with the town’s new blonde. “It’s heavy catastrophe!”
McClain is hoping for at least one good cat fight, though we imagine there will be many more! “We have to roll in the mud,” the actress says with a laugh. “That would be a blast.”
And speaking of fighting, there will be plenty of it even before Phyllis wakes up, seeing as how Summer (Hunter King) isn’t too keen on the fact that her dad, Jack (Peter Bergman) has been snuggling up to Kelly. “Summer’s been causing lots of trouble, for sure,” McClain says. “What’s happening is that Kelly is just trying desperately to get on the good side of the family, which sometimes works and sometimes does not. It just looks like the sucking up that it is!”
Despite the fact that his daughter isn’t too fond of his new gal, Jack will continue to get closer to her. “Jack is falling farther and farther for Kelly,” Bergman teases. “But the day [that Phyllis awakes] is coming! Tick tock….”
But of course, that’s not the only explosion primed to hit Genoa City. Stitch’s (Sean Carrigan) secret is on the verge of finally coming out, which the actor teases could leave the doc’s life in destruction. “It’s going to harm a lot of personal relationships that he has with a lot of different people,” he previews. “It’s going to be hard for him to deal with.”
And to top it all off, he may just find out that Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is pregnant with his child! “He doesn’t know now, but when he finds out, he’ll definitely want the baby to be his [rather than Billy’s],” Carrigan states. “He loves Victoria. So he’ll definitely want the baby to be his.”
But, as Heinle teases, there’s always a chance that the baby is actually Billy’s (Burgess Jenkins). “They’re telling me who it is, but I keep wondering if they’re going to change their mind,” she says of the paternity secret. “You never know. I think maybe they told me to trick me, you know? And then I’ll tell people and then I’ll be wrong!”
If it is Billy’s, then it could create a lot of tension for Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), who’s connecting to her friend on a deeper level every day. “There will be a lot of Chelsea/Billy stuff coming in the near future,” teases Egan. “We’ve been working really closely together, and I don’t want to give too much away, but there’s been a lot of flirtation between the characters, and we’ve been working together almost every day. So you never know what could happen next!”
Speaking of babydaddy drama, Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) previews that the reveal that Paul (Doug Davidson) is Dylan’s (Steve Burton) father leaves everyone in a long-running tailspin. “It creates a chain of events that are completely unexpected,” the actress teases. “It’s been really hard work — exhausting! But so much fun.”
Adds Jessica Collins (Avery Clark): “Summer is very high stakes; it’s emotional for a lot of the characters, certainly myself and Nikki and Dylan and Christine [Lauralee Bell] and Paul. I’ve spent a lot of time as the character being upset. It’s pretty intense!”
But why have just two babydaddy storylines when you can have three?! That’s the way “Y&R” rolls, as it won’t be long until the secret comes out that Sharon (Sharon Case) switched Summer’s paternity test results, meaning everyone will find out that the girl is Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) daughter rather than Jack’s! “Nick badly, even to this day, wants Summer to be his daughter; he feels like she is, and there’s a piece of his heart that knows that she is, even though the paper says it’s not,” Morrow reveals. “So it’s going to be a huge moment for him when he finds out the truth, and I’m looking forward to that.”
However, the bit of good news will come with bad: Sharon’s big secret is that she was the one who switched the paternity test results. And Morrow isn’t so sure if his alter ego will take the news too kindly. “I truly don’t know what’s going to happen… but obviously, it’s going to go one of two ways: Nick is either going to understand that she was ill and not in her right mind and help her through this, or he’s going to bail. I don’t know!” the actor says. “Nick has a big heart, but he acts impulsively in times like this. I’m looking forward to seeing which way they’ll take it.”
One thing he seems to know for sure: No matter what happens in the aftermath of the reveal, he’s almost positive that Jack and Nick will stand together when it comes to parenting Summer — who’s soon headed down a very rocky road of her own with Austin (Matthew Atkinson)! “Nick and Jack have seemed to have taken a pretty mature stance on this; they both have been very understanding about each other’s feelings toward Summer,” he previews. “If I had to bet money, I’d say Jack and Nick will say ‘Let’s just raise this young woman and help her through anything. We have to make this about her, not us.’”
Meanwhile, Christel Khalil teases that summer won’t be a smooth ride for her alter ego, either! “A big secret is going to be let out very soon, and it’s going to make Lily really mad,” the actress previews, adding that the big reveal could be something that blows her family apart. “It will definitely be interesting!”
But will the secret be big enough to cause waves between Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Lily? Khalil says you’ll just have to keep watching to find out! “It can be kind of tough for the writers to figure out what to do with us, because they want to create drama, and the best way to create drama is to split us up,” she teases. “But then, the fans go crazy, so they’re stuck between a rock and hard place! So we’ll have to see…”
